Professional Services

The funeral service itself is the first step in dealing with the grief of those who are left behind. A funeral brings together friends and relatives in mutual support at a time when it is needed most. Funeral arrangements for yourself or a loved one involve some of the most personal decisions you will ever make. We feel that it is very important for you and your family to be pleased with your decisions.

Most people select one or all of the following aspects of our professional service:

Visitation

The visitation allows you and your family to gather together to remember the life of your loved one and receive the comfort and support of friends and community. We will assist with personalization at this time. We offer in-house production of custom printed material including memorial folders, visitors’ register, thank you notes, laminated obituaries and Video/DVD photo tributes

Ceremony/Event

This can be held in our chapel, a house of worship or another facility. We will make all contacts and coordinate the details regarding location, facility and those individuals whom you may wish to participate in the ceremony including clergy or celebrant, musicians, casket bearers or any other participants. If you do not have a worship or church affiliation or a pastor to officiate, we will arrange for a funeral celebrant. Jim Bosma can serve families in this capacity. He is trained and certified to plan and conduct a meaningful ceremony centered upon the significance, value, personality and lifestyle of your loved one.

Committal

This aspect of any funeral service is very important because it allows for the "closure" that is needed in the grieving process. Most commonly, the committal service occurs at the cemetery, which has been selected by you. We will make all arrangements for interment or inurnment. We will also assist with directing a scattering ceremony if you have chosen a cremation disposition.

Gathering

This time is the one that immediately follows the funeral ceremony and/or the committal service and can be either a public or private event. A gathering provides a specific time and place for family and friends to give comfort to each other and to say their good-byes. We recommend a gathering since inclement weather often makes this difficult at the cemetery or other committal site. Most often, this will include refreshments and food. Should you desire, we will assist with contacts to arrange for the place. We have different catering packages available. Many times the gathering is held at a church or place of worship, with food preparation and service provided by member volunteers.
