Obituary for Alice Rebecca Blackert
ALICE REBECCA BLACKERT, 102, of Geneseo, IL, formerly of Hooppole, IL died Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society Geneseo Village.Alice was born October 7, 1914, in Tampico, IL, to Ralph H. and Hilda M. (Olson) Pratt. She was educated in the rural Tampico grade schools and attended Tampico High School in Tampico, IL. She married Vernon L. Blackert, Sr. on August 21, 1932, in East Moline, IL. He died February 18, 1990. Alice was first employed as a cook at Hooppole Grade School. She then operated Alices Caf in Hooppole and later she worked as a secretary/bookkeeper at Micro Gear in Prophetstown, IL. Alice was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Hooppole and a member of Henry County Home Extension. Alice was an avid amateur artist and was known for her participation in Chalk Talk. She was skilled in oil and acrylic painting.Survivors include two daughters, Adrianna Kleckner of Annawan, IL and Linda Billiet of Winter Haven, FL; four sons, Vernon Red Blackert of Prophetstown, IL; Ralph (Mary Ann) Blackert of Cambridge, IL; Walter (Joyce) Blackert of Mineral, IL; and Gerald Blackert of Sheffield, IL; fifteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ella Mae Beard of WI and Martha Plautz of Zebulon, NC.She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; two daughters in law, Betty Blackert and Rita Blackert; one son in law, Donavon Kleckner; two grandchildren, Pamela Kostner and Shawn Blackert; one great-great-grandson, Noah DeRycke; one sister, Edna Knight and one brother, Everett Pratt.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 24, 2017, at Zion United Methodist Church - Hooppole, IL OFFICIATING: Rev. Dan Wright - Pastor of Zion United Methodist Church - Hooppole, IL VISITATION: 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service Monday, July 24, 2017 at Zion United Methodist Church - Hooppole, IL INTERMENT: Hooppole Cemetery - Hooppole, IL THE BOSMA-GIBSON FUNERAL HOME IN PROPHETSTOWN IS IN CHARGE OF ARRANGEMENTS
