Obituary for Alvin E. Heun
ALVIN E. HEUN, 82, of Fulton, IL, died Saturday, May 5, 2018, at his home.
The funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 11, 2018, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Ken Renkes officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL. A memorial has been established by the family.
Al was born April 25, 1936, in Morrison, IL, to Dewey and Stella (Tenboer) Heun. He was educated in the Spring Creek Grade School of rural Whiteside County and was a 1954 graduate of Fulton High School. He married Phyllis J. Smith on May 10, 1957, in Fulton, IL. Al was employed by the former Brinkman and Pessman Lumber Company in Garden Plain, IL. He later owned and operated Al’s Ag Service in Garden Plain for 45 years. He then worked for Gold Star FS retiring after 6 years. Al was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Fulton, the church’s Men’s Brotherhood, and served as a deacon and as a Christian Endeavor Leader. He served on the Garden Plain School Board, was member and president of the Fulton Country Club Board, and was president of the Riverbend School Athletic Association. Al was a member of the Albany Lions Club and held various offices. He was also a member of the Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association. Al was an avid bowler and sponsored a team for many years. He enjoyed fishing, trapping, and mushroom hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; one daughter, Kim Wolf of Fulton, IL; two sons, Kevin (Susan) Heun of Fulton, IL and Kurt Heun of Lena, IL; five grandchildren, Krista (Sayed) Mohamed, Jacob Wolf, Kayla Heun and fiancé Joseph Nagel, Kourtney Heun and Kolton Heun; three great-granddaughters, Amelia, Nora, and Layla Mohamed; and one brother, Marvin Heun of Fulton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dorothy Bailey and one brother, Wilbert Heun.
