Obituary for Barbara J. Sage
BARBARA J. SAGE, 68, of Prophetstown, IL, died Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
Cremations rites have been accorded; there will be no funeral service. A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown. A memorial has been established to Prophetstown Elementary School.
Barb was born March 12, 1954 in Sterling, IL, to Neil and Barbara Joan (Callahan) Carlson. She was educated in the Tampico, IL schools. She married Steven Ballard on September 24, 1971 and later, on June 28, 1979, married Michael R. Sage in Sterling, IL. Barb was employed for 20 years at Sterling Multi Products in Prophetstown, and as a custodian at Prophetstown Elementary School for 19 years. Barb enjoyed spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include her husband, Mike; two sons, Chad Ballard of the Quad Cities and Dustin (Christin) Ballard of Muscatine, IA; one step son, Joe (Lisa) Sage of Morrison, IL; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters, Robyn (Jay) Moresi of Deer Grove, IL and Karen (Jeff Bos) Heyvaert of Morrison, IL; two step sisters, Shari Baker of Sterling, IL and Dawn (Doug) Storey of Texas; and one step brother, Brad (Jolene) Pyse of Rock Falls, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step mother, Mary Carlson; two sisters, Sheila Schipper and Beth Ballard.
