Obituary for Barbara J. Wessels
BARBARA J. WESSELS, 79, of Windsor Manor in Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Morrison Community Hospital in Morrison.
The funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, IL, with Rev. Kevin VerHoeven officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, March 16, 2018, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton. Memorials have been established to Unity Christian School and Windsor Manor.
Barbara was born July 21, 1938, in Clinton, IA, to Charles and Mary (Radziewicz) Waterman. She was educated in the St. Mary’s grade and high schools in Clinton, IA. Barb married Dale R. Wessels on May 11, 1959 in Kahoka, MO. He died July 29, 1998. Barb was employed by the former A.C. Nielsen Company and Medical Associates both in Clinton, IA. She was a charter member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton. She volunteered at Bargain Bonanza in Clinton, IA, and enjoyed crocheting, crafting, and traveling.
Survivors include one daughter, Jill (Jim) Balk of Garrison, IA; one son-in-law, Scott Dopson of Albany, IL; one daughter-in-law, Nita Wessels of Rutherfordton, NC; six grandchildren, Melissa (Joel) DeJong, Candice (Ken) Jager, Kelsey (A.C.) Collier, James Balk, Ryan (Angela) Wessels, and Elizabeth (Adam) Milligan; three step grandchildren, Jennee Iden, Raymond Lacey, and James Lacey; nine great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; one sister, Debbie Trine of Burlington, IA, and one sister-in-law, Jean Waterman of DeWitt, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; one daughter, Julie Dopson; one son, Charles “Charlie” Wessels; one granddaughter, Stephanie Balk; and one brother, Richard “Dick” Waterman.
