Obituary for Bernie J. Vogel
BERNIE J. VOGEL, 91, of The Alverno in Clinton, IA, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Saturday January 22, 2022, at MercyOne Medical Center Clinton in Clinton, IA.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL. A memorial has been established by the family.
Bernie was born March 22, 1930, in Fulton, IL, to Burnie and Marjorie (Barsema) Vogel. He was educated in the Fulton Grade Schools and was graduate of Fulton High School. He married Margaret A. “Margie” Vogel on August 8, 1952, in Fulton, IL. She died October 18, 2020. Bernie was employed by the United States Postal Service in Fulton for 35 years and worked at Wiersema’s Hardware in Fulton. After retirement, he worked for many years assisting the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home team. Bernie was first a member at Bethel Christian Reformed in Fulton, he later attended First Methodist Church in Clinton, IA and was currently a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, where he was an elder and deacon. Bernie enjoyed golfing with his wife, Margie, and was a member of the Fulton Country Club where he served as treasurer of the board.
Survivors include one daughter, Dawn (Mark) Dingmon of Lenexa, KS; four grandchildren, Bridget Kramer, Charis (George) Phillips, Holland (Randall) Price, and Taylor (Kurt) Mangels; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly DeWeerdt of Grand Junction, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; one daughter, Jil Larae Tague; one grandson-in-law, Rorrie Kramer; one sister in infancy, Shirley Vogel.
