Obituary for Betty Ann Brown
BETTY ANN BROWN, 89, of Park Tower in Clinton, IA, died Friday, February 7, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center South in Clinton. Betty was born June 16, 1924, in Clinton, IA, to John and Josephine (Heenie) Chase, Sr. She was a graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton, IL, and attended Rock Island Beauty School. She married Paul Sheff in Clinton in 1945. Later, in 1968, she married Paul D. Brown in Mt. Carroll, IL. He died in 1981. Betty first worked for Curtis Co. in Clinton, from 1943 - 1963; then at the Long Beach Press Telegraph in Long Beach, CA, from 1963 - 1968. Last she worked for General Electric Co. in Morrison, IL, until her retirement in 1979. Following retirement, from 1979 - 1985, Betty and her husband Paul owned and operated Paul"s Tavern in Clinton. Betty loved her home in Camanche, IA, taking pride in her yard; she also loved flowers. She was a member of Church of the Open Door in Clinton. She will be greatly missed by her pet cat, Cidia. Survivors include three grandchildren, Brian, Becky and Karen; one sister, Joyce Halverson of Clinton, IA; her best friend and caregiver for the past fifteen years, Gloria Henricksen of Davenport, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Brown; one son, John R. Sheff; two sisters, Ruth Turner and Donna Tichler; one brother, John Chase, Jr.
