Obituary for Byron Urban
Byron Urban, 97, of Hooppole passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown. Mr. Urban was born December 2, 1919 at the family farm. His parents were the late William Bill and Leatha Carlisle Urban. Mr. Urbans Great Grandfather Lorenz Urban purchased the Urban farm in 1869 with an Urban living and working the farm for the past 148 years. Byron was a life-long member of the Zion United Methodist Church of Hooppole. Byron graduated from Hooppole High School in 1936. At that time Hooppole High School was a three-year high school. So the following year (1937) Byron graduated from the Prophetstown High School. Byron and the late Mable B. Currie were married August 15, 1941 in Erie, Illinois. They lived on and farmed the Urban family farm. Byron is survived by sons, Richard D. (Nancy) of Signal Mountain, TN and Stanley C. (Luanne) of Hooppole, IL; daughter, Janet C. (Terry) DeDecker of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Craig R. (Kari) DeDecker, Christopher M. DeDecker, Beth Ann DeDecker Wheeler, Kara Bree Urban (Brian) Hatch, Brandt K. (Anita) Urban, Jared W. Urban, Derek C. Urban, and Katia M. Urban; great grandchildren, Christopher B. DeDecker, Reegen, Xahria, and Lainee Hatch, Jayde, Logan, and Sydney Wheeler, and Kai Urban.
