Obituary for Charles F. Riggen
CHARLES F. RIGGEN, 79, of 15665 Hazel Road, Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, IL. Charles was born June 14, 1931 in Essex Township, Stark County, IL, to Samuel and Veffie (Bell) Riggen. He was educated in the rural Stark and Whiteside County grade schools and graduated from Morrison High School in 1950. Chuck served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Wanda V. Nelson on August 8, 1953 in Morrison, IL. He was employed as a buyer for General Electric in Morrison, where he worked for 41 years, retiring in 1991. Chuck was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church and the Morrison American Legion Post #328. He had been a board member and served as past president of Advantage One, formerly Morrison GE Employees Credit Union. Chuck enjoyed bowling, fishing, traveling, and watching his grandchildren in sporting events. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. Survivors include his wife, Wanda; one daughter, Nancy Riggen of Morrison, IL; one son, Mike (Lynne) Riggen of Morrison, IL; three grandchildren, Andy Riggen, Michelle Bos, and Bill Bos; one great granddaughter, Gianna Stoudt; one brother, Bill (Velma) Riggen of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Luella Riggen and Arlene Burkley; two brothers, Richard and Howard Riggen.
