Obituary for Connie Helms
CONNIE HELMS, 75, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Morrison, IL, with Rev. Father Slawomir Zimodro, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, officiating. A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, April 1, 2024, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Rosary at 3:30 PM. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will be at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Sterling, IL, at a later date. Memorials have been established to Serenity Hospice and Home, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and St. Mary Catholic Church.
Connie was born June 10, 1948, in Sterling, IL, to Robert J. and Lois (Knalsen) Oberle. She was educated in the Manlius grade school and was a graduate of Manlius High School. On September 27, 1969, she married, David G. Helms, in Tampico, IL. She was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling, IL. Connie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she was very involved in church activities. During her free time, Connie found joy in various hobbies, including bowling, golfing, and playing cards. However, her greatest happiness were the moments she spent surrounded by her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Dave; two sons, Bret (Brenda) Helms of Walnut, IL and Brock (Lauri) Helms of Morrison, IL; five grandchildren, Blake Helms, Bryce Helms, Brooke Helms, Nathan Helms and Adam Helms; her mother, Lois Oberle of Sterling, IL; two sisters, Nancy (Darrell) Anderson of Manlius, IL and Rita (Carl) Pacunas of Princeton, IL; one brother, Jamie (Susie Neuhalfen) Oberle of Tampico, IL.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert J. Oberle.
