Obituary for Constance M. Gibson
CONSTANCE M. "CONNIE" GIBSON, 83, of Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center, Mason City, IA, formerly of Prophetstown, IL, died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Heritage Care Center. Connie was born December 6, 1931, in Chicago, IL, to Jack and Hortense (Nelson) Anderson. She was educated in the Chicago public schools and was a 1948 graduate of Amundson High School in Chicago. She attended Augustana College in Rock Island, IL and earned her nursing degree from Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL. She married Allen G. Gibson on February 16, 1952 in Chicago. He died June 9, 2004. To this marriage three sons were born. In addition to being a stay-at-home Mom, she held various nursing positions in the community with Winning Wheels and the Prophetstown schools. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown and had served as a Republican Election Judge. In her spare time she enjoyed dancing, casinos and cruises with her husband, and also reading. Later on she cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Dale (Kim) Gibson of Mason City, IA, Neil (Pat) Gibson of Richmond, IN and John Gibson of Prophetstown, IL; nine grandchildren, Evan Gibson, Jessica (Tyler) Isaacson, Dillon Gibson, Andrew Gibson, Ryan Gibson, Pacita (Chris) Bassler, Johanna (Brandon) Potter, Kathleen Gibson, Marisa Gibson; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen; one sister, in infancy.
