Obituary for Cora Mae Howard
CORA MAE HOWARD, 87, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, IL; formerly of Hillsdale, IL, died Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA. Cora Mae was born August 26, 1925, in Garden Plain Township, IL, to Fred M. and Freda (Geerts) Huizenga. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools, attended Fulton High School, and graduated from Erie High School in Erie, IL. She married George A. Howard on May 11, 1956 in Fulton, IL. He died November 23, 1984. Cora Mae was first employed by General Electric in Morrison, IL. She then farmed with her late husband in the rural Cordova and Hillsdale areas. She was a member of the Cordova Baptist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher. Cora Mae enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Tom (Karla) Howard of Fulton, IL, Mike (Connie) Howard of Hillsdale, IL and Fred (Linda) Howard of Albany, IL; eight grandchildren, Korri (Ryan) Marcum, Kelly (Ed) Lach, Kaecee Howard, Tom Howard, Amanda Howard, Logan Howard, Nolan Howard, Sarah Howard; six great grandchildren; one brother, Clarence (Kathyrn) Huizenga of Fulton, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; her stepmother, Winnie Voss.
