Obituary for Dorothy K. Baker
DOROTHY K. BAKER, 77, of Peoria, IL, formerly of Washington and Prophetstown, IL, died Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. Dorothy was born November 9, 1937, in Sterling, IL, to Henry W. and Mary W. (Klinger) Marshall. She was educated in the Prophetstown Grade School and was a graduate of Prophetstown High School. She attended Illinois Central College in Peoria. Dorothy was first employed as a nursing and administrative assistant for a doctor in private practice in Chillicothe, IL. Later she worked as an accountant and administrative assistant for Caterpillar Inc., in Peoria, retiring after 25 years. Following her retirement she continued to work part time for five years at Caterpillar, and most recently she worked for Home Instead, Morton, IL, doing hospice care. Dorothy was a member of "I Too", and was also a volunteer for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Service League of Peoria. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, quilting, needle work and was an avid bird watcher. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Hollingsworth of Camdenton, MO and Susan (Tom) Perkins of Peoria, IL; two sons, Greg Baker of Phoenix, AZ and Jon Baker of Glasford, IL; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Hollingsworth, Brad (Melissa) Hollingsworth, Jennifer (James) Noel, Sam Perkins, Annie Perkins, Sydni Baker, Ali Baker, Jarod Baker; three great grandchildren, Maddie, Abby and Mitchell Hollingsworth; one sister, Beth Vetter of Rock Falls, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Peggy Perkins, one brother, Edward Marshall.
