Obituary for Dorothy M. Schaver
DOROTHY M. SCHAVER, 86, of Fulton, IL, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at her home. Dorothy was born October 4, 1927, in Ustick Township, IL, to John W. and Alice (Merema) Huizenga. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. Dorothy married Marvin W. Schaver on November 11, 1947, in Erie, IL. He died April 10, 1984. Dorothy farmed, along with her late husband, Marvin, from 1948 to 1968. She then was employed as a nurse"s aid at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, IL. Most recently, she worked as a private duty caregiver. Dorothy was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include one daughter, Marcia (Ron) Dykstra of Thomson, IL; two sons, Jerry (Nancy) Schaver of Thomson, IL and Scott (Sharon) Schaver of Clinton, IA; nine grandchildren, Shane (Jennifer) Dykstra, Brent (Stacy) Dykstra, Craig (Angie) Dykstra, Becky (Adam) Hamstra, Jacob Schaver, Joseph Schaver, Jamie (Heather) Schaver, Britny (Justin Knight) Schaver, and Skylar Schaver; fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; one son, Bill Schaver; one granddaughter, Angie Lyn Dykstra in infancy; one sister in infancy; two brothers, Wilbert Huizenga and one in infancy.
