Obituary for Dorothy R. Hook
DOROTHY R. HOOK, 92, of 404 W. South Street, Morrison, IL, died Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL. Dorothy was born March 3, 1916 in Maurice, IA to Abel J. and Lena (Arendsen) Renkes. She was a graduate of Morrison High School in Morrison, IL. Dorothy married William Hook on August 25, 1936 in Morrison, IL. He died March 5, 1991. She was a self employed beautician in Erie, IL for many years. She was a charter member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison and the church"s Ruth Circle and Missionary Society. Dorothy enjoyed participating in a Wednesday Card Club. She also served as organist for St. Anne"s Episcopal Church in Morrison. Her hobbies include painting scenery pictures, a hobby she was introduced to by her sister, Eleanor. Survivors include one daughter, Beth (Rev. Henry) Elgersma of Lansing, IL; three sons, Phil (Joyce) Hook of Fulton, IL; Ted (Karen) Hook of Livingston, TX; and Steve (Norma) Hook of Holland, MI; one daughter-in-law, Esther Hook of Wenona, IL; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; one sister, Eleanor (Benjamin) Hinkson of Springfield, MO; and one brother, Arthur Renkes of Longwood, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; one daughter in infancy and one son, Dan Hook.
