Obituary for Erma M. Zuidema
ERMA M. ZUIDEMA, 91, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the nursing home. Erma was born January 22, 1919 in Mt. Pleasant Township, IL, to Ernest and Marie (Rushmeyer) Landheer. Erma was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. She married Willard S. Zuidema on March 4, 1942 in Sterling, IL. He died December 17, 1982. Erma farmed with her husband in the Union Grove Township area of rural Morrison, until retiring in 1980, when they moved to Morrison. She was a member of the St. Peter"s Lutheran Church in Morrison, the church"s Ladies Aid Society and Women"s Missionary League. She also served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Erma took great pride in the care and maintenance of her lawn and landscaping. Survivors include one daughter, Diane Thyne of Clinton, IA; two grandchildren, Amy (Kyle) Priest and Jason (Sarah) Thyne; three great grandchildren, Samantha Priest, Jackson Thyne, and Jazzlyn Davis; one sister, Ruth (Renyold) VanDerLeest of Lyndon, IL; one brother, Robert (Marian) Landheer of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard; two sons, Dale and Eugene Zuidema; one sister, Esther Wiebenga; one brother, Walter Landheer.
