Obituary for Ernest C. Stralow
ERNEST C. "ERNIE" STRALOW, 90, of 19260 Millard Road, Morrison, IL, died Saturday, September 24, 2011 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL. Ernie was born May 23, 1921 in Morrison, IL, to Ernest and Mary (Rosenow) Stralow. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. Ernie married Fannie Vos on January 13, 1943 in Morrison, IL. He was engaged in farming in Whiteside County and later was employed by the former Carnation Milk Factory in Morrison. Most recently, he worked for J.A. Bull & Sons in Morrison, retiring in 1988. Ernie was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, the church"s Men"s Brotherhood, and the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He served as a member of the board of Franklin School. Ernie enjoyed gardening, roller skating, playing cards, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was known as a pet lover. Survivors include his wife, Fannie; two daughters, Mary Sue (Arlyn) Vander Eide of Fulton, IL and Linda (Rev. Dan) Hoogheem of Mohawk, NY; two sons, Rev. Jim (JoAnn) Stralow of Freeport, IL and John (Ginny) Stralow of Pella, IA; ten grandchildren, Jeff (Chris) Vander Eide, Julie (Joe) Lutz, Karen (Jeff) Merema, Aaron Hoogheem, Adam Hoogheem, David (Debbie) Stralow, Dan (Ange) Stralow, Deb (Greg) Dyson, Kim (Bob) Gates, and Ray Stralow; twenty-one great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one brother, Edward Stralow of Sterling, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Martha Fowler.
