Obituary for Gladys E. Winkler
GLADYS E. WINKLER, 88, of Prophetstown, IL, died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown.Gladys was born February 7, 1928, in Sterling, IL, to Ralph and Hazel L. (Lane) Winkler. She was educated in the Centerville Elementary School in Leon, IL and the Hooppole Grade School in Hooppole, IL. She attended the Metropolitan Church Association in Waukesha, WI and then was a graduate of the nursing school at LaSalle St. Marys Hospital in LaSalle, IL.. She was employed as a LPN at C.G.H. Medical Center in Sterling for 20 years. Most recently she was a private duty home nurse for her mother and others, until retirement. She attended the Prophetstown United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Church of the Nazarene in Sterling.Survivors include two sisters, her twin, Carol Winkler, of Prophetstown, IL and Harriet (William) Brown of Waterloo, IA; one niece, Cheryl (Mark) Patterson; two nephews, William M. (Beverly) Brown II and Douglas (Lisa) Brown; a foster niece, Marlyss (Ronald) Fisher; two foster nephews, Leon (Jerri) Fullick and Kenneth Fullick; several great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph L. Winkler, in infancy; one foster brother, Harvey Fullick; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
