Obituary for Gordon Edward Nelson
GORDON EDWARD NELSON, 82, of Morrison, IL, died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Dixon Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Dixon, IL.Gordon was born November 8, 1931, in Morrison, IL, to Bert J. and Hattie (Beveroth) Nelson. He graduated from Morrison High School. He received his Bachelors Degree from Western Illinois University and later received his Masters Degree from Bradley University. Gordon served in the United States Air Force from November 29, 1951 to August 20, 1955. He married Helen L. Mitchell on December 24, 1960, in East Moline, IL. She died February 28, 2007. Gordon dedicated his life to Education and worked around the Morrison area all his life. Most recently, he was Principal of the Morrison Junior High School from 1972-1992. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Morrison and a member of the Morrison American Legion. Survivors include one son, Eric (Jenna) Nelson of Antioch, IL; two grandchildren, Jack and Hannah Nelson.He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; seven sisters including one in infancy; and two brothers.
