Obituary for Gregory M. Romankiw
GREGORY M. ROMANKIW, 78, of Fulton, IL, died Sunday, February 20, 2022, at his home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at CrossView Church in Fulton, with Rev. Scott Stephan, pastor of CrossView Church, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded; there will be no visitation. The Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. A memorial has been established to CrossView Church.
Gregory was born September 28, 1943, in Newark, NJ, to Michael Anthony Romankiw and Geraldine (Russell) Romankiw. He was educated in the Savanna Grade Schools and was a graduate of Savanna High School. He attended Black Hawk College in Moline, IL. Greg married Eleanor Mae Marshall on July 15, 1962, in Savanna, IL. He was first employed by Green Giant. He then worked at Chicago Northern Railroad in Clinton, IA and was later employed by John Deere in Moline, IL, retiring from there in 1987 after 30 years. He along with his wife, owned and operated Roman Video in Clinton for 17 years and Roman Trader Pawn for 20 years. He attended CrossView Church. Greg enjoyed surfing the internet. He was an avid collector of many things.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; one daughter, Sheila Olson of Clinton; one son, Greg A. Romankiw of Clinton; five grandchildren, Sasha (Josh) Elifritz, Aaron Romankiw, Devlin and Gavin Olson, and Tristin B. Romankiw; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Nina Roggow of Clatskanie, OR; half-sister, Kim Romankiw; half-brother, Mark Romankiw.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Geraldine and Doc McGinnis; biological father, Michael Anthony Romankiw; one sister, Glendy Berryhill.
