Obituary for Hazel M. Shambaugh
HAZEL M. SHAMBAUGH, 91, of The Gardens Unit at Coventry Living Center, Sterling, IL, died Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Center. Hazel was born December 13, 1920 in Hamilton Grove Corner, IL, to Walter S. and Alice L. (Overly) Teach. She attended Lyndon, IL Grade Schools and graduated from Quincy High School, Quincy, IL. She married Burton F. Shambaugh on September 19, 1940 in Morrison, IL. He died February 24, 2012. She was employed by and retired from the Morrison Community Hospital as the Kitchen Supervisor. During her retirement, she worked at Quinn"s Jewelry in Morrison. Hazel was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, was a Lyndon Rainbow Girl, and a member of the WaTanYe Club in Morrison. Her favorite pasttime was being member of several card clubs for years. Survivors include one daughter, Jane (Jim) Phillips of Moline, IL; two sons, Walter (Kathy) Shambaugh of Sterling, IL and Robert (Nancy) Shambaugh of Morrison, IL; seven grandchildren, Matthew Phillips, Jeff Shambaugh, Josh (Liz) Shambaugh, David (Sarah) Fecht, Cori (Mike) Younie, Ruthann Shambaugh, and John Shambaugh; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Brown and Cora Pritchard; and two brothers, Elmer and Lee Teach.
