Obituary for Herbert Perk Benson
HERBERT "PERK" BENSON, 86, of 13205 Lyndon Road, Morrison, IL, died Friday, March 8, 2013 at Morrison Community Hospital in Morrison, IL. Herbert was born on July 25, 1926, to Nels and Nellie Maria (Mattson) Benson, in Solvesborg, Blekinge County, Sweden. He was educated in the McCallister Grade School in rural Whiteside County, and graduated from Morrison High School in 1944. He married Isabelle J. Van Dellen on August 24, 1955 in Fulton, IL. Herbert was first employed as a truck driver in the Morrison area, and then he engaged in farming in rural Whiteside County. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison. He was a member of the Whiteside County Cattleman"s Association and served on the board at the Morrison Elevator. Herbert especially enjoyed bowling. Survivors include his wife, Isabelle; one daughter: Mary Kay (LeRoy) Wright of Morrison, IL; two sons, Eric (Mary) Benson and Steve (Lori) Benson, both of Morrison, IL; five grandchildren, Nichole Wright, Jason Wright, Kenny (Alesha McCart) Benson, Michael (Ashley) Benson, Abby Benson; one brother, George Benson of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Keith Benson; one granddaughter, Ashton Wright; one sister, Mildred Benson.
