Obituary for Janvrin D. Faber
JANVRIN D. FABER, 78, of Fulton, IL, died Friday, November 9, 2018, at Prairie Hills at Clinton in Clinton, IA.
The funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton with Rev. Kevin VerHoeven officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL.
Jan was born June 24, 1940, in Hillsdale, IL, to Ben and Louise (Kettler) Faber. He was educated in the Fulton Christian Grade School and was a 1958 graduate of Fulton High School. Jan married Carol E. Prins on June 9, 1959, in Fulton, IL. He had been employed by Faber Feed & Coal, U.S. Postal Service – Fulton Post Office, Second Reformed Church, Fulton State Bank, Brinkman Building Center, and Sikkema Painting all in Fulton. Jan was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, where he served as church treasurer and was “Mr. Head Counselor” of the Calvinette/Gems program, volunteered at Vacation Bible School, and was an “All Around Volunteer Handyman”. Jan also was a volunteer for Friends of the Windmill, Fulton Steamer Referee Escort, Fulton Steamer Football Breakfast, Fulton Eagles Ticket Sales, Fulton Elementary School Library, and for Focal Point Ministries-Iron Sharpens Iron Events. He was a member of Schmaling Library Board, Fulton Zoning Board, Fulton Township Board, Tuesday Night Men’s Bowling League and Fulton Country Club. Memorials have been established to Fulton Steamer Football Breakfast and Focal Point Ministries.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; three daughters, Kim (Roy) Abbott, Janel (Brian) Buis, and Angie (Jeff) Smith all of Fulton, IL; nine grandchildren, Jesse (Amanda) Abbott, Ben (Katie) Abbott, Christine (Nathan) Johnson, Dan (Sara) Buis, Kevin (Lindsay) Buis, Joshua Smith, Kayla Horton, Michael (Kelly) Smith, and Jenn Smith (fiance’ Devon Buskirk); fourteen great-grandchildren, Lauren and Harper Abbott, Hadley and Sadie Abbott, Rebekah and Ellie Johnson, Natalie and Zack Buis, Branden, Peyton, and William Buis, Addison and Zoey Horton, and Hunter Oudekerk; one sister-in-law, Eunice Faber of Artesia, NM.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Adam Buis; one brother, Clifford “Bill” Faber.
