Obituary for Jesse W. James
JESSE W. JAMES, 75, of Erie, IL, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Genesis Medical Center Silvis Campus, in Silvis, IL. Jesse was born October 4, 1940, in Portland Township, Whiteside County, IL, to William R. and Lulu V. (Pashon) James. He was educated in the Prophetstown grade schools and was a 1958 graduate of Prophetstown High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 " 1961. On November 18, 2000 he married Peggy L. Earl. Jesse had been a livestock buyer since 1962. He was employed with Erie Livestock, Morrison Cattle Company and also with Walnut Auction Sales for the last 50 years. He was associated with the Erie Christian Church in Erie, IL. He was the president of Erie Jaycees and coached Lyndon-Prophetstown Junior Tackle Football from 1975-1990. He was a member of Prophet Hill Country Club. Jesse enjoyed golfing, playing fast pitch softball and painting. Most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren. Survivors include his loving wife, Peggy; six daughters, Wendy Dee James of St. Louis, MO, Terri Sue (Mark) Thompson of St. Louis, MO, JoAnne (Devin) Davis of Denver, CO, Dianna Dickey of Albany, IL, Karrie (Bryan) Whitney of Albany, IL and Amanda Grajewski of Fulton, IL; three sons, Curt (Nichole) James of St. Louis, MO, Cole James of New York, NY, and John Grajewski of Albany, IL; eighteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Karen (Greg) Combs of Lyndon, IL and Penny Bielema of Prophetstown, IL; one brother, Stan (Diane) James of Rockford, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Frank James; one graddaughter.
