Jim was born March 24, 1941, in Morrison, IL, to Ben and Irene (Clementz) Poulter. He was educated in the West Hume Grade School and was a 1959 graduate of Prophetstown High School. He worked for Fairbanks and Morris in East Moline, and Eclipse Lawn Mower in Prophetstown until enlisting in the Air Force in 1960; he served for four years. He worked there for 37 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Prophetstown. Jim was passionate about his wife Mary, and enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Prophet Hills Country Club, where he also was a past president and board member, and also was employed there for 10 years after his retirement. He liked to work in his yard and was a Chicago sports fan. He and Mary enjoyed “music research” and socializing with friends and wintering in the Florida Keys and other places of interest. Jim will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was immensely proud of his grandchildren and looked forward to spending time with them and watching them in their various activities.
