Obituary for Joetta A. Erickson
JOETTA A. ERICKSON, 72, of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Resthave Home in Morrison, IL, after losing her battle with cancer.Joetta was born June 24, 1945, in Fulton IL, to Wilfred and Alta (Wiersema) Wiersema. She was educated in the Fulton Grade Schools and was a 1963 graduate of Fulton High School. She attended the Clinton Academy of Beauty in Clinton, IA. Joetta married Roland Balk on July 31, 1964, in Fulton, IL. He died June 25, 1976. She later married Forrest M. Erickson, Jr. Joetta owned and operated Joettas Beauty Shop in Fulton for many years. She also sold home interior dcor products and provided home health care services. Joetta was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton and served as a high school youth group leader. She enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, and spending time with her family.Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia (Timothy) Chervenka of Kernersville, NC, and Marcy Balk of Fulton, IL; five grandchildren, Kali Letcher; Caitlynn, Noah, Makena, and Caleb Chervenka.She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Roland; and two brothers, Clarence J. Shorty Wiersema and Irving Wiersema.
