Obituary for John Heun
JOHN HEUN, 85, of 1619 Golfview Court, Erie, IL died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at his home. John was born December 20, 1926 in Garden Plain Township, IL to Albert J. and Pearl (Bos) Heun. He was educated in the Spring Creek and Stone Street Country Schools in rural Whiteside County. He married Dorothy F. DeWeerdt on January 30, 1948 in Erie, IL. She died March 11, 2012. John farmed in the Newton Township, IL area. He continued to be active on the family farm after moving into Erie in 1989. He then worked for DJC in Erie for several years. John was a former member of Newton Zion Reformed Church, rural Erie, IL, where he served as an elder and was currently a member of the Church of the Open Door in Clinton, IA. He was also an elder on the Board of World Evangelism and was involved in Full Gospel Businessmen. He was past president of the Whiteside County Cattle Feeders. John loved to go on long country drives. Survivors include four daughters, Linda (Ron) Van Zuiden of Erie, IL; Karen (Randy) Pearl of Erie, IL; Carol (David) Franks of Fenton, IL; and Julie (Nick) Rolland of Davenport, IA; one son, Paul (Nancy) Heun of Erie, IL; twelve grandchildren, Jennifer (Drew) Temple, Chris (Angie) Brown, Chad (Kristi) Ferguson, Eric (Molly) Ferguson, Brett Ferguson, Ana Pearl, Clint Franks, Todd (Ana) Franks, Alicia (Brandon) Eyrich, Blake Root, Mike (Jenny) Heun, and Mark (Ashley) Heun; fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Adalene (Arnold) Norman of Erie, IL and Ruby (Ray) Singleton of Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Nancy Heun of Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents; one granddaughter, Melissa Franks; and two brothers, Paul and Claire Heun.
