JUNE SWANSON, 98, of Prophetstown, IL, died Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown.June was born June 19, 1919, in rural Prophetstown, to Ira D. and Florence Mae (Ackerman) Rapp. She was educated in the Arnett Grade School in rural Whiteside County and was a 1936 graduate of Prophetstown High School. She then attended business college in Kewanee, IL. She married Arnold P. Pete Swanson on December 12, 1942 in Sacramento, CA. He died May 1, 2006. June was first employed by Kewanee Manufacturing Co. in Kewanee, IL, the Eclipse Lawn Mower Co. in Prophetstown and the California Almond Growers in Sacramento, CA. Lastly, for over 30 years she was employed by Farmers National Bank of Prophetstown. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown and the churchs W.E.L.C.A. She had served as the churchs financial secretary. June enjoyed gardening and was known for her peanut brittle.Survivors include one niece, Patricia (John) Benson of Iowa City, IA; three nephews, Craig (Kathy) Dimmick of Mt. Carroll, IL, Kevin (Connie) Dimmick of Mt. Carroll, IL, Curt (Alana) Dimmick of Eatonville, WA.She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; one sister, Helen Dimmick.
