Obituary for Kathleen Kay Armstrong
KATHLEEN "KAY" MARY ARMSTRONG, 67, of Thomson, IL, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Kay was born September 28, 1942, in Clinton, IA, to Ervin F. and Virginia M. (Young) Nixon. She was educated in the Clinton, IA Catholic grade schools and graduated from Mount St. Clare Academy in Clinton in 1960. She married Donald A. Armstrong on September 26, 1961 in Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Kay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed playing cards and traveling with her husband. She was an avid collector. Survivors include her husband, Donald; two daughters, Marcia (fianc" Gary Styzens) Armstrong of Springfield, IL; Catherine (Derek) Hepworth of Chattanooga, TN; two sons, Mark (Julie) Armstrong of Denver, CO and Robert (Lei) Armstrong of Itasca, IL; eight grandchildren, Christopher Armstrong, Hayley Armstrong, Nora Armstrong, Noelle Hepworth, Dennis Hepworth, Derek Hepworth, Nathan Palmer and Joel Styzens; two sisters, Juleen Barrows of Camanche, IA and Therese (Roger) Shaw of Clinton, IA; two brothers, Gary (Colleen) Nixon and Michael (Sydney) Nixon , both of Clinton, IA; a sister-in-law, Mary (David) Vogel of Fulton, IL; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
