Obituary for Kenneth Bush
KENNETH BUSH, 90, of 405 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL, died Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Four Seasons Living Center, Morrison, IL. Ken was born January 23, 1919 in Morrison, IL, to Clarence and Henrietta (Bolt) Bush. He was educated in the Morrison and Lyndon area grade schools. Ken married Eloise Shipma on October 10, 1941 in Fulton, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater from October 1943 through October 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart. Ken was first employed by the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Company in Sterling, IL. Following his military service, he was employed by Groharing Construction Company in Morrison and then worked as a self employed mason contractor. Most recently, Ken was employed by J.A. Bull and Sons in Morrison for 22 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and the church"s Men"s Group. He also delivered sermon tapes to shut-ins. Ken was a member of the Morrison American Legion Post #328 and the American Diabetes Association. His hobbies included walking, gardening, fishing, woodworking, and refinishing. He was an avid dog lover. Survivors include his wife, Eloise; one daughter, Bonnie Bush and John Peart of Chicago, IL; one brother, Eugene (Wilma) Bush of Morrison, IL; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Shipma of Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald Bush and Lawrence in infancy.
