Obituary for Larry R. Damhoff
LARRY R. DAMHOFF, 59, of 903 3rd Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Friday, October 15, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. Larry was born June 28, 1951 in Morrison, IL, to Raymond and Evelyn J. (Borgman) Damhoff. He was educated in the Garden Plain Grade School and was a 1969 graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton, IL. Larry served in the United States Army National Guard. He married Julie A. Balk on October 12, 1984 in Fulton. Larry was employed by Rock-Tenn Company in Clinton, IA for 40 years. He was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, where he served as a deacon. Larry was active in the Garden Plain 4-H and was an avid drag racer for many years. He was an avid Fighting Illini, Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, and Chicago White Sox fan. Larry, along with his wife, Julie, owned and operated Favorite Things Variety Store, an online E"bay store. Larry and Julie also enjoyed traveling together. Larry cherished his time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren and loved his two cats, Carlie and Cassie. He also enjoyed listening to Christian praise and worship music. Survivors include his wife, Julie; one daughter, Amy (Tom) Klein of Madison, WI; four sons, Mark Damhoff of Fulton, IL, Dennis (Kelly) VanZuiden of Morrison, IL, Jeff (Ayla) VanZuiden and Brent (Michelle) VanZuiden both of Springfield, IL; five grandchildren, Linda and Joey VanZuiden, Emily VanZuiden, Riley and Reese VanZuiden; his mother, Evelyn Damhoff of Fulton, IL; one sister, Carol (Kurt) Stralow of Morrison, IL; two brothers, Kenny (Patti) Damhoff and Russ (Deborah) Damhoff both of Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond; one daughter, Angela VanZuiden.
