Obituary for Lester L. Matyas
LESTER L. MATYAS, 81, of Fulton, IL, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at Harbor Crest Home, Fulton, IL. Les was born January 6, 1933, in Granite City, IL, to Frank and Gertrude A. (Young) Matyas. He was educated in the Granite City, IL schools. Les was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War. He married June M. (Tidwell) Clymer on January 23, 1965, in Granite City, IL. Les was employed at 3M in Cordova, IL, as an electrician for 23 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Clinton, IA. Les enjoyed gardening, carpentry work, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, June; one daughter, Misty (Mark) Fanderclai of Fulton, IL; one stepson, Rick (Cheryl) Stallings of Silvis, IL; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a sister, Janet (Arthur) Dean of Granite City, IL and a brother, Frank Matyas of Granite City, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; one stepdaughter, Theresa Holmes; one stepgrandson, Michael Holmes; one sister, Marleen McKnew; one brother, Joseph Matyas.
