Obituary for Marcella G. Johnson
MARCELLA G. JOHNSON, 80, of 8178 Oakville Road, Mt. Carroll, IL, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at her home. Marcella was born February 6, 1933, in Taunton, MN, to Henry and Elizabeth (Neels) DePyper. She was educated in the country schools in Minnesota and Illinois and was a 1951 graduate of Prophetstown High School in Prophetstown, IL. She married Dwight D. Johnson on April 12, 1952, in Tampico, IL. He died August 25, 2009. Marcella, along with her husband, Dwight, farmed in the rural Carroll and Whiteside County areas. She was a member of Saints John and Catherine Catholic Church in Mt. Carroll, IL. She enjoyed spending winters in Florida and time spent with family and grandchildren and socializing with friends. It brought her great joy to prepare and deliver meals during harvest. She was an avid baker and her specialities were baking pies and decorating cakes. Survivors include one daughter, Melissa (Tom) Bryant of Morrison, IL; two sons, Michael D. (Dawn) Johnson of Chadwick, IL and Brandon (Robyn) Johnson of Byron, IL; six grandchildren, Brooke Johnson, Abby (fiance" Andrew Sturtevant) Johnson, Jenessa (Alex) Shahandeh, Heather (Jade) Smith, Ashton Johnson, and Joshua Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Smith; one sister, Connie (Mike) O"Mara of Haddonfield, NJ; one brother, Don (Sandy) DePyper of Davenport, IA; three special grand dogs, Zoey, Brinkley, and Libby; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dwight.
