Obituary for Margaret E. Sawyer
MARGARET E. SAWYER, 94, of Habben Road, Sterling, IL, died Friday, October 12, 2012, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL. Margaret was born October 15, 1917, in Cordova, IL, to Rafe and Evah (Hansen) George. She was educated in the Cordova Grade Schools and graduated from Cordova High School. Margaret graduated from Scoville Business College in Clinton, IA. She married Paul R. Sawyer on September 14, 1938 in Clinton, IA. He died December 5, 2008. She lived and farmed, for many years, with her husband, in the Hopkins Township area. Margaret retired from General Electric Company in Morrison with 28 years of service. She was a member of Cordova Baptist Church in Cordova, IL, a member of General Electric GEM Club, and a member of Royal Neighbors Association. Survivors include one son, Richard (Frances) Sawyer of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 71 years, Paul; three sisters, Florence George, Helen George, and Martha Webber; three brothers, Ralph, Hans, and Clarence "Tuffy" George.
