Obituary for Marilyn J. Green

Marilyn J. Green, 85, of Morrison, IL, died Wednesday March 28, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA.

Funeral service is at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison, IL, with Interim Pastor Vicki Sauter officiating. Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Monday April 2, 2018, at the Bethesda Lutheran Church. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in the Chadwick Cemetery, Chadwick, IL. A memorial to Bethesda Lutheran Church has been established

Marilyn was born July 8, 1932, in Argo Fay, IL, to Hans and Amanda (Peterson) Hansen. She attended the rural Carroll County grade schools and graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, IA. On February 7, 1953 she married Kenneth J. Green at Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton. He died May 4, 1973. Marilyn was a Pink Lady at the former Jane Lamb Hospital in Clinton. She was also a bookkeeper at the Clinton National Bank. She then worked in the kitchen at Morrison High School until her retirement. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison. She was the head of the Hobbies Division for 33 years at the Whiteside County Fair. Marilyn loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and being a member of the bowling league.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary (Eric) Benson and Mekie Green, both of Morrison; two sons, Keith (Sandy) Green of Walnut, IL and Jay (Laurie) Green of Bryant, IA; seven grandchildren, Kenneth and Michael Benson, Joseph and Kylee Green, Dr. Angela R. Hillman, Gavin and Jenny Green; two step grandchildren, Nick Harms and Brittany Clark; six great grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Martin of Sterling, IL, Neva Brumm of Clinton, IA and Sharon Naeve of Olive Branch, MO; one brother, Tom (Katherine) Hansen of Cambridge, IL and many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; one sister, Betty Countryman; three brothers, Ervin, Morris and Donald Hansen.
