Obituary for Mark Allen Drolema
MARK ALLEN DROLEMA, 54, of Stern Square, Sterling, IL, died Monday, February 6, 2023 at Stern Square.
There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held at the Fulton Twp. Cemetery in Fulton, IL, with Pastor Les Funderberg of First Open Bible Church, Rock Falls, IL, officiating.
Mark was born December 4, 1968 in Morrison, IL, to Robert J. and Sharon E. (Buikema) Drolema. He was educated in Fulton Grade and Middle Schools, and went to vocational school in Sterling. He was employed at Self-Help Enterprises in Sterling for more than 40 years. Mark was a member of First Open Bible Church in Rock Falls. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, being outside during the Summer and listening to country music. His greatest joy was the Sunday shopping trip with his family.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Sharon and Mark Morris, of Dixon, IL; one sister, Kristy (Marvin) VanderWiel of Otley, IA; two brothers, Steve (Andrea) Drolema of Aurora, IL and Jamie (Angela) Drolema of Oregon, IL; his maternal grandmother, Gertrude Buikema of Morrison, IL; two step-brothers, Adam and Ryan Morris, both of Rockford, IL; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Drolema; maternal grandfather, Marion Buikema; paternal grandparents, Marvin and Ruth Hamstra; paternal grandfather, Pete Drolema.
