Obituary for Marvin R. Kramer
MARVIN R. KRAMER, of Resthave Home, Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday at the home.Marvin was born December 5, 1925, in Clinton, IA, to Henry and Katie (Decker) Kramer. He was educated in the Cedar Creek grade school of rural Whiteside County and was a 1943 graduate of Erie High School in Erie, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He first married Anna IreneStrating on March 28, 1947 in Fulton, IL. She died December 12, 1983. He then married Barbara E. (Slager) Snyder on November 4, 1989 in Lanark, IL. She died January 25, 2009. Marv was engaged in farming in the rural Garden Plain area for 24 years and also during that time, he was employed by Bob Stone Excavating. Most recently, he worked for Agri-King, Inc. in Fulton for 20 years, retiring in 1991. Marv was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton where he had served as elder and deacon. He was also a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. Marv enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing softball, and horse shoe pitching. He held both Illinois State and World Champion titles in horse shoe pitching and was inducted into the Horse Shoe Hall of Fame. Marv greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.Survivors include one daughter, Joan Hook of Morrison, IL; one son, Gary (Lisa) Kramer of Fulton, IL; one stepson, Jeff (Rhonda) Snyder of Baileyville, IL; one stepson-in-law, Jim Ludwig of Lanark, IL; seven grandchildren, Erika (Shawn) Bloomhuff, Sara Kramer, Kurt (Kuuipo) Kramer, Todd (Casey) Kramer, Cory (fiancee Amanda Schroeder) Kramer, Nickie (Rich) Schmitz, Lisa (Theresa Walls) Schantz; three step grandchildren, Karlee Ludwig, Lauren Snyder, and Sarah Snyder; and fifteen great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene; his second wife, Barbara, a daughter-in-law, Lori Kramer; a stepdaughter, Linda Ludwig; three brothers, Arthur, Clarence, and Elmer Kramer; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy, Ella, and Irene Kramer.
