Obituary for Michael W. Hoogerwerf
MICHAEL W. HOOGERWERF, 70, of Prophetstown, IL, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL.Mike was born October 1, 1946, in Morrison, IL, to Robert H. and Betty J. (Hardy) Hoogerwerf. He was educated in the Prophetstown Grade Schools and was a graduate of Prophetstown High School. He married Cynthia A. List on October 8, 1977, in Mason City, IL. Mike was employed as a union carpenter by Carpenters Local 790 in Rock Falls, IL. Most recently, he was employed by the Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. Mike was a member of the Prophetstown Lodge #293 AF AM and was a past Worshipful Master and also a member of St. Catherines Catholic Church in Prophetstown. Mike enjoyed working with his hands and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Survivors include his wife, Cindy; one daughter, Hope (Steven) Hamann of Prophetstown, IL; three sons, Rob (Deb) Hoogerwerf of Allen, TX; Troy (Valerie) Hoogerwerf of Washington, IL; and Barry (Michelle) Hoogerwerf of Arlington, TX; nine grandchildren, Jessica and Dalton; Ryan and Riley; Noah, Logan, and Makenna; Cade and Avery; two great-grandchildren, Summer and Octavia; two sisters, Diane (Ron) Siebrands of Mason City, IA and Cindy (Larry) Anderson of Rockford, IL; and one brother, Eric Hoogerwerf of North Aurora, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Patrick Hoogerwerf.
