Obituary for Mildred "Millie" J. Heun
MILDRED “MILLIE” J. HEUN, 87, of Resthave Home in Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at the Home.
There will be a private family graveside service at the Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL. Memorials have been established to First Reformed Church and Resthave Home.
Millie was born December 18, 1932, in Fulton, IL, to Clarence “Claus” and Winnie (Buikema) Van Zuiden. She was educated in the Fulton Grade Schools and was a 1950 graduate of Fulton High School after which she organized reunions for the next 60 years. Millie married Wilbert “Wilb” K. Heun on March 4, 1955, in Fulton. He died December 21, 2008. Millie worked at the Red and White Grocery Store and Fidelity Life in Fulton. She then farmed with her husband, Wilb, for ten years in the rural Garden Plain area before moving to Fulton. Millie was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton, where she served as secretary and librarian for twenty years. She also volunteered at the Windmill, the Windmill Cultural Center, and the Martin House. She enjoyed cooking, scrapbooking, and creating things for the church. Millie was an avid historian; enjoying family and church history.
Survivors include one son, Steve (Shari) Heun of Fulton, IL; three grandchildren, Andrew (Amy) Heun, Benjamin (Amanda) Heun, and Emma (Aaron) Watson; five great-grandchildren, Lucas, Leilah, Levi, Arden, and Seth; one sister, Betty (Art) Pruis of Morrison, IL and one brother, Marvin (Ethel) Van Zuiden of Morrison, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Wilb.
