Obituary for Myra E. Ottens
MYRA E. OTTENS, 85, of Morrison, IL, died Thursday, October, 10, 2013, at her home. Myra was born February 22, 1928, in Mt. Carroll, IL, to Alvin and Eva (Durham) Schaut. She was educated in the Mt. Carroll Grade Schools and was a graduate of Mt. Carroll High School. She received her teacher"s certificate from Shimer College in Mt. Carroll. Myra married Robert W. Ottens on April 26, 1952, in Mt. Carroll, IL. He died June 8, 2012. She taught first through eighth grades in a one room school in Erie, IL. She was also employed for several years in the Whiteside County Circuit Clerk"s office in Morrison, IL. She was also a homemaker. Myra was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison. She liked to sew and knit and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Ottens of Morrison, IL and Sandy (Tim) Bronn of Cambridge, WI; two sons, Sam (Bonny) Ottens of Shoreline, WA and Scott (Malia) Ottens of LaGrange, IL; three grandchildren, Sam and Eli Bronn, and Lauren Ottens; one sister, Margaret (Bud) Rose of Peoria, IL; and her beloved cat, Peaches. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob, one daughter, Sarah Ottens, and two brothers, Tom and Edward Schaut.
