Obituary for Nancy J. Bielema
NANCY J. BIELEMA, 83, of Albany, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at her son’s home in Albany.
Her memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at the Albany United Methodist Church with Pastor Toni Lucas officiating. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lusk Cemetery in Albany. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers memorials are established to the Albany United Methodist Church and Compassus Hospice.
Nancy was born June 30, 1938, in Fulton Township to Fred and Theresa (Ashpole) Holcomb. She was educated in the Dublin Country School in rural Whiteside County and the Albany Grade School and in 1957 she graduated from Mount Saint Clare Academy in Clinton, IA. She married Harold Bielema and they had four children together. Nancy and Harold owned and operated Main Street Café in Albany. She then owned and operated Nancy’s Landing in Albany for many years. In her “golden” years, she cleaned homes and took care of those needing help in their home. Nancy was a member of the Albany United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, working in yard tending to her flowers. She definitely had a green thumb. She also enjoyed working word search puzzles.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheila (Dave) VenHuizen of Fulton; two sons, Alan Bielema of Fulton and Kevin Bielema of Albany; six grandchildren Shane, Ben and Brig Bielema, Hannah (Michael) Watson, Tanner VenHuizen and Mandy (Lance) Walker; six great grandchildren, Teagan Watson, Schuyler, Lexy, Jasmine, Evelynn and Nora Walker; her beloved dog, Petey; one sister, Pat (Wayne) Anglese of Albany; three sisters-in-law, Celia Huizenga of Albany, Bonnie Holcomb of Erie, IL and Pat Bronkema of Forreston, IL; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son in infancy, Terry Bielema; four brothers, Frank, Donald, Russell and Jack Holcomb; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Jack) Holcomb and Marge (Frank) Holcomb.
