PATRICIA DELL BRONKEMA, 86, of Forreston, IL, died Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Harbor Hospice Home of Houston in Houston, TX.
Her funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Albany United Methodist Church in Albany, IL, with Rev. Toni Lucas, pastor of the Albany United Methodist Church, officiating. A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at Lusk Cemetery in Albany, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Albany United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church of Forreston.
Patricia was born January 24, 1938, in Fulton, IL, to Claus and Florence L. (Green) Bielema. She was educated in the Fulton Grade Schools and graduated from Fulton High School in 1956. She married Larry Drury on August 21, 1956, in Fulton, IL; they later divorced. She then married Richard P. “Dick” Schoel on March 27, 1968, in Morrison, IL, who passed away on July 27, 1992. She later married Maurice J. “Morrie” Bronkema on May 21, 1994, in Forreston, IL, who passed away on January 1, 2018. Patricia was employed at General Electric for 15 years and then worked as a cook at Harbor Crest Nursing in Fulton, IL, and Sara Harding in Clinton, IA. After moving to Forreston, she served as a substitute cook for the Forrestville Valley School District. Patricia was a former member of the Albany United Methodist Church and a current member of the Forreston United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women Group. She was an avid Fulton Steamer and Forreston Cardinal fan and enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, and cooking.
Survivors include one daughter, Dawn Wood of Forreston, IL; four grandchildren, Tyler Justin Wood, Austin James (Brittany) Wood, Matthew Stephen Brady, Shayna Fay Brady; three great-grandchildren; seven step children, Gary (Lisa) Bronkema of Freeport, IL, David (Dawn) Bronkema of Liberty Township, OH, Laurie (Joe) Banderet of Freeport, IL, Kim Bronkema of Winnebago, IL, Phoebe Schoel of Georgetown, TX, Susan (Paul) Burn of Clinton, IA, and Rick (Sherri) Schoel of Clinton, IA; many step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Richard Schoel and Maurice Bronkema; one daughter, Debra Brady; three brothers, Fay, Gordon and Harold Bielema; one stepson, Dan Bronkema.
