Obituary for Paul J. Huizenga
PAUL J. HUIZENGA, 86, of Eagle Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clinton, IA, died Saturday, July 4, 2015, at the Center. Paul was born September 11, 1928, in Fulton, IL, to Peter D. and Anna (Bielema) Huizenga. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County Grade Schools. Paul married Lorna M. Borgman on December 22, 1949, in Fulton, IL. She died April 1, 2009. Paul worked for Eddie Schuler as a milk hauler and then for the former Patent Novelty Company in Fulton. He then was employed by the former Borgman Brothers Feed and Fuel in Fulton until becoming owner of Borgman and Huizenga Feed and Fuel. Later, he managed the Gambles Gift and Hardware Store in Fulton. Most recently, he was employed as a custodian for the Fulton Middle School and was also a bus driver for the Riverbend School District until retiring. Paul was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Fulton, a member of the church"s Men"s Brotherhood, and served as an usher. He enjoyed the mission trips to the South Dakota Indian reservation, playing cards with friends, and the winter trips to Arizona. Survivors include one daughter, Jolene Farley of Clinton, IA; one son, Ronald (Martha) Huizenga of San Tan Valley, AZ; five grandchildren, Chad Soenksen, Jason (Samantha) Soenksen, Tyler Farley, Becky Huizenga, and Bobbi Melvin; nine great-grandchildren, Havyn Soenksen, Jason Soenksen, Jr., Brynna Soenksen, Kelson Paul Soenksen, Ashley Dean, Matthew Dean, Kimberly Leeper, Lexis Huizenga, and Christine Wagner; three great-great-grandchildren, Kalista Emmert, Luxi Dean, and Klaire DeCoster; special family friend, Ron "PeeWee" Temple of Fulton, IL; one brother-in-law, Robert Doescher of Fulton, IL; and one sister-in-law, Jessie Borgman of Eldridge, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorna; one great-great grandchild, Allahnah Emmert; one sister, Katherine Doescher, two brothers, Donald Huizenga and one in infancy.
