Obituary for Phyllis A. Huizenga
PHYLLIS A. PRUIS-HUIZENGA, 86, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford, IL.
Her funeral service will be held at 10AM on Friday, March 11, 2022, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Rev. Shannon Parrish, pastor of the Newton Zion Reformed Church in Erie, IL, officiating. A visitation will be held from 4PM to 7PM on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. A memorial has been established to Newton Zion Reformed Church.
Phyllis was born December 27, 1935, in Fulton, IL, to Peter R. and Winifred K. (Bronkema) Hook. She was educated in the Robertson Grade School of Rural Whiteside County and was a 1953 graduate of Morrison High School. She married Charles W. Pruis on August 8, 1958 in Morrison, IL. He died February 7, 1997. She later married Willard J. Huizenga on June 6, 1998 in Fulton, IL. He died on December 14, 2019. Phyllis was employed by General Electric in Morrison for 32 years. Phyllis loved the time she spent traveling with her husband Charles. She was a former member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, where she was involved in Stone Croft Bible Study Group. She was a current member of Newton Zion Reformed Church in Erie, IL and the GEM Club. Phyllis enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include three daughters, Leanne (Bill) Boylan of Worth, IL; Lacinda “Cindy”
Pruis of Clinton, IA and Lynelle Gouger of Ila, GA; three grandchildren, Ben Boylan and Sarah (Ashley Berglund) Boylan and Trisha (Terell) Pruis-Seitz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Charles; second husband, Willard; one son, William in infancy; one sister, Marilyn Freas; three brothers, Robert Hook, Gerald Hook and Donald Hook.
