Obituary for Ralph Hamstra
RALPH HAMSTRA, 96, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown, IL. Ralph was born July 6, 1916, in Morrison, IL to Dewey and Johanna (Bielema) Hamstra. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools. On February 27, 1942 he married Rena C. Hook in Morrison. She died July 3, 2005. Ralph farmed for 40 years in the rural Morrison area. After retiring, he helped John Vandermyde with farming and hauling of limestone. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church. Ralph was an avid fisherman, and he enjoyed doing outside yard work. Survivors include one son, Mark Hamstra of Sterling, IL; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Boonstra of Morrison, IL; one brother, Donald Hamstra of Morrison, IL; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rena; one sister, Alma Meinema; one brother, Marvin Hamstra.
