Obituary for Richard A. Haan
RICHARD ARLYN HAAN, 75, of Chadwick, IL, died Sunday, January 9, 2022 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.

UPDATED OBITUARY INFORMATION: Funeral services for both Richard and his wife, Rita, will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Dalmus Meeks. A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday, January 16th at the funeral home. Interment will be in Garden Plain Cemetery, in Fulton, IL. A memorial has been established.

Richard was born May 11, 1946, in Morrison, IL, to Paul and Lela (Sykes) Haan. He was educated in the Fulton grade schools and was a graduate of Fulton High School. Later he graduated from Sauk Valley Community College with an Associates Degree in drafting. Richard served as a radioman in the United States Navy. On October 3, 1992 he married Rita Kay Dersham in Fulton. Richard was self employed in the construction business for over 40 years. Most recently, for ten years he worked as a production supervisor at Midwest Monument in Sterling, IL. Richard loved the Lord and was an ordained minister. He and his wife were lay speakers for the Fenton, IL church. They enjoyed raising lambs, ducks, and chickens, and also took seven years of ballroom and tap dancing together. He enjoyed camping and woodworking, and was musical, playing the saxophone and singing solos for the church.

Survivors include his wife, Rita; two daughters, Tammy (Loren) Venhuizen of South Dakota, Cassi (Chris) Johnson of Rock Falls, IL; three sons, Todd (Brenda) Haan of Morrison, IL, Brian Haan Sr. of Bettendorf, IA and Darren Haan of Dixon, IL; two step daughters, Tanya (Karl) Drezek of LeClaire, IA and Heather (Michael) Koppien of Sterling, IL; one step son, Eric (Shawn) Geesey of Birchwood, TN; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Susan Wright of Mt. Morris, IL; five brothers, Robert (Sue) Haan of Machesney Park, IL, Joseph (Donna) Haan of Fulton, IL, Gerald (Nancy) Haan of Commerce City, CO, Michael (Bess) Haan of Clinton, IA and David (Faye) Haan of Cable, WI; one aunt, Bonnie (Leon) VanKampen of Morrison, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
