Obituary for Robert L. Wheat
ROBERT L. "BOB" WHEAT, 88, of Mesa, AZ, died Friday, December 7, 2012, at Banner Dessert Hospital, Mesa, AZ. Bob was born June 2, 1924, in Prophetstown, IL, to Glenn and Beth (Emery) Wheat. He was educated in the Prophetstown Grade School and was a 1942 graduate of Prophetstown High School and a graduate of Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. Bob served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Shirley A. Mier on June 7, 1975, in Mesa, AZ. He was employed as a teacher in the Scottsdale School District of Scottdale, AZ. Bob was a life member of the Arizona Rifle and Pistol Association, Rio Salado Gun Range, and the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Randolph and Barbara Mier both of Mesa, AZ; two brothers-in-law, David (Mary Ruth) Mier and Donald (Marilyn) Mier both of Terre Haute, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Glenn Wheat, Jr.
