Obituary for Robert Van Vuren
ROBERT VAN VUREN, 93, of River Forest, IL, died peacefully at his home with his son by his side, on Saturday, October 8, 2011. Robert was born January 16, 1918, in Fulton, IL, to Peter and Alice (Stuit) Van Vuren. He graduated from Fulton High School and attended Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. He married Viola May Dykstra on January 23, 1923 in Fulton. She died on May 1, 2011. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Robert was employed by Libby Foods in Chicago for 40 years, retiring as their property tax manager in 1983. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange, IL and was a Chicago Tax Club member since 1959. He was an Avid Cubs Fan, watching every game. Robert was a kind and loving man who will be greatly missed. Survivors include one son, Robert Van Vuren of Bradenton, FL; three granddaughters, Hannah (Robert) Kelly, Alyssa (David) Wetzel and Mason E. Rose; three great grandchildren, Carson and Jack Kelly, Rhiley Wetzel; one son-in-law, Max Rose, of River Forest, IL; one sister, Alice Mae (Clifford) Neubauer of Clinton, IA; one sister-in-law, Thelma Van Vuren of Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola; one daughter, Jennifer A. Rose; two brothers, Otto and Alvin Van Vuren.
