Obituary for Roberta Ann Tichler
ROBERTA ANN TICHLER, 76, of 804 13th Street, Fulton, IL, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL, after her courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Roberta was born July 24, 1937, in Clinton, IA, to Jake C. and Florence (Wiebenga) Balk. She was educated in the Christian School in Fulton, IL and graduated from Fulton High School in Fulton, IL, in 1955. Roberta married Warren R. Tichler on February 17, 1956, in Fulton, IL. She was a homemaker and was previously employed as a secretary at Fulton Junior High School. Roberta was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL, where she served as church librarian for the last few years. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and attending all her grandchildren"s sporting and school events. Survivors include her husband, Warren; three daughters, Gail (Steve) Moeller of Clinton, IA; Patty (Keith) Hughes of Mt. Carroll, IL; and Jane (Barry) Houzenga of Morrison, IL; two sons, Scott Tichler of Homewood, IL and Rich Tichler of Mt. Carroll, IL; thirteen grandchildren, Brad Moeller, Andy (Stephanie) Hughes, Adam (Erin) Hughes, Jason Hughes, Jeremy Hughes, Jaime (Joe) Still, Sarah Houzenga, Megan Houzenga, Courtney (Alex) Hall, Cassandra Tichler, Colin Tichler, Josh Tichler, and Caleb Sims; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Mrs. Bonnie Simon of Fulton, IL; and one brother, Ken (Audrey) Balk of Fulton, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Calvin Balk in infancy.
