RONALD JAY VOGEL, 79, of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, January 12, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Clinton, IA.
A public graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Fulton Township Cemetery with Rev. Daniel H. Wierenga officiating. There will be no visitation. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Fulton Kiwanis Club.
Ronald was born October 24, 1943, in Morrison, IL, to Jay Marvin and Alice (Norman) Vogel. He was educated in the Fulton Grade School and was a graduate of Fulton High School. He first married Ellen Miller in 1964. He later married Lois Meurs-Wierenga on July 22, 1995, in Fulton. He retired from Bemis, formerly DuPont, in Clinton, IA. Ron was a member of CrossView Church in Fulton, where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Fulton Kiwanis Club, where he was well-known as the “can man”. Ron enjoyed bowling and was an avid league bowler for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; one son, Scott (Angela) Vogel of Fenton, MO; two granddaughters, Elaina and Erica Vogel; three stepchildren, Duane Wierenga of Colorado Springs, CO, Rev. Daniel (Kelley) Wierenga of Colona, IL and Suzanne Wierenga-Keller of San Antonio, TX; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Vogel; his mother, Alice Balk.
